Artist Statement
Maria Newhouse is an accomplished Kalamazoo-based photographer with over a decade of experience capturing special family moments. Maria’s passion for photography has its roots in her own identity as a mother to four amazing children, which enables her to authentically connect with families and bring out their unique personalities in her images. Since launching Maria Newhouse Photography in 2019, she has built a reputation for her creative and timeless work. Harnessing her attention to detail, knack with natural light and ability to capture fleeting moments, her newest photo project – “Through Their Eyes” – is a macro photography feature that delves into the tiny details of the natural world. Inspired by outdoor adventures with her children, this exhibit offers a fresh perspective on the world around us and invites viewers to appreciate the remarkable beauty that often goes unnoticed in our bustling lives.
