Marilyn Bean is a contemporary abstract painter. Her work examines the fragmented self. Performance, tension, the relationship between fluidity and containment; freedom and inhibition. The ego versus the soul. She creates visual representations of these imperfect, fragmented personas through converging forms and lines. The forms are connected via a muted color palette and similar shape, yet are distinguished by contrasting brush strokes; some large, fluid, messy and others one, neat, contained. Together creating an honest, unapologetic, and holistic embodiment of life.
