Iris Lubbert
Artist Statement
Iris Lubbert is a public servant turned artist who uses her acrylic paints and pens to create an escape into a vibrant and whimsical world. All her work is original and created by hand in a makeshift studio set up in her home in Oshtemo. For years she painted just for herself until 2024 when she started sharing her work with the hope that it also brings joy to others.
Iris graduated from Kalamazoo College with a double major in Studio Art and Human Development & Social Relations, and a minor in Economics. After graduating, she obtained her master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan and subsequently worked in the public sector for 10 years. With the encouragement of family and friends, Iris quit her desk job in late 2023 to pursue her dream of being a full-time artist.
