Silas Bush/Silkore (they/he)

Artist Statement

Silas (they/he) is a digital artist whose work explores the intersections of masculinity, gender fluidity, and underground aesthetics. They began creating digital art in 2020, spending three years drawing exclusively on an iPhone 6+, refining a style that feels raw, expressive, and deeply personal.  Influenced by manga artists like Atsushi Ōkubo (Soul Eater), Taiyō Matsumoto (No.5), and Harold Sakuishi (BECK), Silas’s work carries a kinetic energy and an experimental approach to character design. Their art is also shaped by the alternative animation of the late ’90s and early 2000s, particularly the gritty urban narratives of MTV’s Downtown. These influences manifest in a world that feels both nostalgic and unconventional—filled with characters who exist in liminal spaces, navigating the tension between rebellion and introspection.

As a genderqueer artist, Silas’s work is a continuous dialogue between masculinity and femininity, often blending them in ways in hopes of challenging traditional archetypes. Their visual language borrows from an eye for fashion, punk aesthetics, and eye-catching proportions, creating an atmosphere of controlled chaos. Through their art, Silas seeks to capture the restless energy of youth, the beauty of imperfection, and the ever-evolving nature of identity.
