Angela Hirdes (they/she)
Artist Statement
Angela (they/she) creates colorful and whimsical fantasy illustrations. The subject matter varies but it usually focuses on a feminine figure. Inspired by artists like Alphonse Mucha, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keefe, Naoko Takeuchi, and Claude Monet, Angela uses rich and saturated colors in whatever medium they work in. Those mediums include acrylic, watercolor, alcohol markers, ink, and digital painting in Procreate. The motivations behind the work are a celebration of beauty, femininity, and being your true and authentic self. Angela is a nonbinary and queer human who believes all forms of gender expression are beautiful, femme just happens to be their chosen expression of their truest self.
