Tanisha P. Clay
Artist Statement
Tanisha Lynn Clay, known as Pretty Fire, the Poet & The Afrocentric Pin Up Girl, is a creative powerhouse and co-founding member of the award-winning Face Off Theatre Company, and now with her husband George Clay IV (aka. DJ Young G) BLACK GENIOUS BLACK FAMOUS, an educational arts company focused on empowering black and brown learners through the arts. As a classically trained actress, Tanisha studied Theatre Performance and Africana Studies at Western Michigan University and MFA Theatre Performance at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. She is proudly represented by Lily’s Talent.
A multi-talented artist, Tanisha has an impressive portfolio of directing credits, including Absentia at Ohio University, For Colored Girls at Central Illinois State, and numerous plays for Face Off Theatre, including the upcoming production of Been Loving You.
Her recent acting credits highlight her versatility and depth as a performer, including Yellowman with Face Off Theatre, Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Theatre Works Colorado Springs, and Marcus or the Secret of Sweet at Curious Theatre Company.
