Artist Statement
Chad Sutton, an artist and designer based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is the creative mind behind Fable & Fang, a studio devoted to the handcrafting of mystical curiosities and fantastical artifacts. Drawing inspiration from folklore, nature, and the forgotten corners of imagined worlds, Sutton brings to life pieces that feel as though they’ve been plucked from a traveler’s trunk in another realm. Working with materials such as resin, wood, paint, clay, and mixed media, each creation is sculpted, cast, and hand-painted with a careful blend of artistry and storytelling. From tiny guardian gargoyles to ornate fantasy relics, Sutton’s work celebrates imperfection, texture, and the tactile magic of things made by hand.
