Kathryn Regel
Artist Statement
Several years ago, after acquiring family photo albums from the early 1900’s Kathryn began a journey in what she calls “art and ancestry”. She primarily works in colored and graphite pencils and incorporates photos of her ancestors. Kathryn’s work has been characterized as “…something both edgy and simultaneously comforting. It leaves us with our imaginations reeling, a sense of delight ignited, and a connection to the past renewed.” Kathryn’s drawings have been shown in various international juried exhibitions such as Martha’s Vinyard Drawing Prize, UNC Asheville Drawing Discourse, and Hilton Head Biennale, as well as in Colored Pencil magazine, Ann Kullberg’s Color magazine, and was a category winner in Plein-air Salon’s competition.
