Artist Statement
“I’ve been photographing the world I see around me since 1992. Yet, there’s so much more to go. The reason I photograph is so others may also enjoy the world I see around me and how I see it. I feel it is often human nature to fail to stop and SEE what is around us, thus because of our stupidly busy lives we forget to look around. Sometimes I wonder, If I don’t photograph it-will it still exist? Only for a fleeting moment when someone sees it but then it’s forgotten. This is why I feel the need to photograph, to document the world around me at any given moment. It’s not only about place but also time. If I photograph it then it is somehow immortal and documented in time. Some of these images in this show are pulled from my project ‘The Everyday Unseen” which showcases everyday things with a different perspective than the ordinary. The others are my similar ‘different perspective’ take on different places I’ve lived namely Chicago and London, UK. I now shoot mostly digitally though many of these images were shot on film and then converted to digital files to print. I still love film and will never stop using it as the brilliant medium that it is”.
