Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra
Artist Statement
The Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra was founded in 2003 to revive the mandolin orchestra tradition in Kalamazoo. It is a plucked string ensemble consisting of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars and bass. The orchestra plays a wide variety of music, including classical, folk and “golden era” mandolin orchestra music from the 1920s through early 1950s.
