Art as Resilience, Expression, and Change

Artist Statement

The Ampersee Advisory Team is a collective of artists with lived experiences of homelessness and housing insecurity, using creativity as a powerful tool for storytelling, healing, and advocacy. Through their diverse artistic expressions—painting, poetry, photography, and mixed media— they illuminate the realities of displacement while celebrating the resilience, strength, and humanity of those often unseen. Each artist in the collective brings a unique perspective, transforming personal struggles into vibrant works that spark conversation and inspire action. Their art serves not only as an outlet for self-expression but also as a bridge connecting communities, fostering empathy, and advocating for systemic change. By sharing their creations in public spaces, galleries, and community events, the Ampersee Advisory Team challenges stereotypes and invites viewers to witness the beauty, depth, and complexity of lived experiences beyond housing insecurity. Their work stands as a testament to the power of creativity in reclaiming dignity, rewriting narratives, and envisioning a future where housing is a right, not a privilege.
