Coco Sweezy

Artist Statement

Coco was born and raised in Mexico City where she got a degree in Art History. She is a painter and an art collector. Throughout the years she has taken numerous classes and workshops in drawing, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and print making. Subjects range from landscapes, still lives, flowers, birds, architecture, and figures. She likes to paint town scenes, markets, flowers, and birds. Her inspiration comes from memories, travels, and a wealth of experiences. Her work has an ethnic quality that comes from images of her natal Mexico. The art, colors, and art crafts of Mexico are an inspiration for her, as does the nature and landscape of Michigan. She works with pastels, watercolors acrylics, mixed media, and collages.

Coco is an art collector and had an art gallery in Vicksburg, MI Later she moved to Marshall, MI. Currently, she is a member of “Los Artistas of the Great Lakes” a group of Latino artists, and president of the Battle Creek Society of Artists.
