Artist Statement
Cathy Keast grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula enjoying the vast nature and the great Lake Superior. She was artistic at a young age. She mastered watercolor and acrylic painting and worked and apprenticed at a bead shop/jewelry store with the owner/jeweler. She learned how to create jewelry and do repairs.
She and her family moved to Kalamazoo in 1993. Working full time right away at a hospital and raising 2 daughters was a lot but she continued doing her arts donating jewelry to the schools, and cancer center, and gifting many gifts to friends and family.
After raising her daughters and helping with her three grandchildren time freed up for her arts. Which lead her right downtown to Luxe Boutique! What a great fit! Cathy’s goal is to offer quality jewelry while keeping costs down as much as possible for the customers. Cathy’s standards are high and she delights in customer satisfaction!
