Elizabeth Rohs

Artist Statement

Liz began to paint after she retired in the fall of 2012. Her “toolbox” has grown greatly since she began on her artist’s journey. She finds it a very peaceful and relaxing pastime. She chose watercolor as a medium for its transparency and learning to let the water work for you. Spending most of her childhood and adult recreational life outdoors has given her much visual knowledge so composing pictures from nature was an easy way to begin. Then there are the methods. You never really stop learning the methods of using water as an assistant to your Interpretations. She intends to keep learning until she can no longer hold a paint brushIt is never too late to begin to enjoy making art. The initial decision to start is all it takes. It’s not as much about talent as it is practice. She has taken advantage of many learning opportunities locally and online.
