Fausto Fernandez
Artist Statement
Fausto was born in the city of Santo Domingo, formerly Hispaniola. Since he was a child, he showed his inclination toward art. He has lived in Ponce, Puerto Rico; New York City; and has been in Battle Creek since 2003. He studied drawing at a Montessori school and worked as a craftsman in various shops and festivals. He takes inspiration for his paintings from the north side of the Dominican Republic – Puerto Plata. In 2003, he studied graphic design and participated in several arts courses at Kellogg Community College. His parents have cultural roots in Spain and Ukraine. Fausto likes cooking and doing volunteer work. He belongs to the Battle Creek Society of Artists.
