Healing Portal – Rendering the Embrace of Iris (proposed title)
Thoughts on the creation of the panels for Iridescent Health:
The entryway of Cares/Iridescent Health provides a portal to a place of acceptance and healing. Iris was the goddess of communication, healing, light and transformation. She was a protector of wishes and dreams. The construction of these panels is symbolic of her strengths. The daylight side is a natural trellis of medicinal Michigan wildflowers reaching upward to her crown – the sun with wings. The twilight to night side illustrates her oversight and protection under the cover of darkness. Placing this work at the entrance symbolizes the power of Iris’s ability to communicate between worlds as one enters and exits the space.
