Gwen Marr – WMU Student Exhibit

Artist Statement

Michigan based and beginner metalsmith, Gwendolyn Marr, is honing her intersection between jewelry fabrication and raw designs found in nature as well as other alternative materials. With a background in general fine arts and a drive for craftsmanship, her works combine both organic/abstract forms and careful metalwork to create wearable art. Raised in the west region of the state for much of her life, inspiration is mostly taken from the local fauna and flora that she encounters while observing the native environment Through her work, Gwendolyn aims to foster a deeper connection between her own work and the natural world, celebrating the unique and elaborate textures and patterns it has to offer.
