Julieta Ortiz

Artist Statement

Julieta is a 13-year-old artist whose world is shaped by creativity, color, and imagination. Ever since she was little, she’s loved arts and crafts, and by the age of 10 she was already designing and creating her own costumes. She sees herself as vibrant and unique, and expresses that through everything she does—from her art to the colors she chooses for her hair and clothes. She loves creating from scratch and taking on creative challenges. For her, art is more than a hobby—it’s how she shares her emotions and how she understands the world around her. She works with acrylic wash, watercolor, chalk pastel, graphite, colored pencils, and pen to create a vivid universe filled with flowers, animals, fruits, and imaginative, sometimes bizarre creatures and shapes. Her style is colorful, detailed, and a little eccentric—mixing beauty with an edgy, playful feel. She’s inspired by the stories she reads, the ideas she discovers on Pinterest, musical theatre, songs, and other artists. As a book and music lover, she often feels full of ideas—sometimes so many that it feels overwhelming—but once she starts creating, she enters her own world. In that space, she feels both excited and at peace, where time slows down and creativity flows freely. Through her art, she invites you into her world, where every piece reflects emotion, empathy, curiosity, and the joy of creating.
