Kelly Root

Artist Statement

Kelly finds that experimenting with art is a way to find peace within herself and she want to share that peace or joy with others. Art can be both an intuitive, free-flowing, meditative process that calms the soul or it can be a precise mapping of subject matter that exercises the mind.  Though graphite pencils are her usual tools, Kelly wants herself and others to see a world of color. Her contribution to that world comes through colored pencils and watercolor paints, offset by the deep blacks of my ink pens and brushes. Kelly believes if she can create something she thinks is cool and others find joy in it, she will succeed.

Kelly is also featured in the Westin Galley Group Show at the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo (Art Hop Stop 1).
