Maya James – Westin Gallery

Maya James is an award-winning multi-disciplinary artist, writer, creator, educator, and activist based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with a focus on feminism, anti-racism, and collective economics. Her work combines pop art influence and by-hand techniques to celebrate the beauty of the black diaspora, and has been exhibited throughout the US. In addition to her artistic endeavors, James also organizes community events for black liberation, and is a vocal advocate for abolition, anti-racism, feminism, and freedom.
