Nick Oudsema
Artist Statement
Nick is a sculpture artist from Grand Rapids, MI. His primary mediums are Styrofoam and glass, but he also uses lights and music to create an immersive experience. Inspired by the techno, noir and cyberpunk genres, you can see these influences in his work. Nick’s art career began with “Kiki”, an 80s era mannequin Nick turned into a disco ball after conceptualizing for a number of years. This past year, Nick turned Kiki into a disco mannequin that features over 14,000 mirrors. Since then, his creative work has snowballed as he continues to explore how light interacts with mirrors and shapes while constantly pulling new ideas from a retro, tech-noir perspective.
