Project Rope: A Community Connected

Artist Statement

Alternative and Special Education students across the county experienced a series of workshops facilitated by EFA teaching artists in whom they shared stories celebrating their community and unique experiences. Stories were written on fabric and woven together to form a community rope. Through a rope-making machine, the project not only weaves our students’ stories into one rope, but members of our community are encouraged to contribute stories to be woven in as well. Our goal is that the rope is created to be a public work of art that will serve as a reminder of the strength in sharing our stories and experiences with the community.

Special Thanks to Pete Melvin for designing and building the rope machine, making all of this possible.
