Artist Statement
Rain Hoskins (they/she) from Detroit, MI is a self-taught painter, a potter, and a photographer. Rain’s art is based on nature, nostalgia, quirks, and all things vibrant. They started painting with acrylics in 2013 for leisure. Rain has branched out with watercolors, gouache, and modeling paste in 2019. During the quarantine, they experimented with air dry clay and pottery. To this day Rain navigates pottery, watercolors and gouache mediums. When they aren’t creating art, Rain works with students to improve their reading skills as an Academic Interventionist. The piece I am submitting was created with watercolors, gouache, and acrylic paint/markers.
