Artist Statement
“I am Roquel Grei, a Kalamazoo, Michigan native and novice photographer. I’ve been an artist my entire life, moving fluidly from one medium to another, and for the past two years, photography has become my tool for engaging with and observing the world around me.
My work focuses on capturing the serene, natural beauty of everyday life- especially the moments that arise when we disconnect and simply live.
I’m drawn to scenes of people at rest, at play, and in leisure, often bathed in the golden glow of the sun. These images reflect my belief that there is deep, often overlooked value in presence and stillness.
To live fully in the present moment, I believe, is as valuable as gold.”
